Where your job lands.

Three bands cover the full spread we see. Most jobs land in the typical band — bigger or smaller jobs sit either side.

03What drives the price

Where the spread comes from.

Each entry below moves the median up or down. Your job lands somewhere on the curve based on how these stack.

01

Existing circuit availability

Branching from an existing circuit nearby is cheapest. New circuits back to the switchboard cost 2–3× more but are required for high-load locations (kitchens, AC, appliances).

02

Wall material

Plasterboard is fastest. Brick veneer with concealed cabling adds labour for cable routing. Solid brick / double-brick with through-cable runs is the slowest.

03

Outlet type

Standard 10A double GPO is the baseline. USB-combo, 15A appliance, weatherproof outdoor, or smart-switched outlets cost more in components and labour.

04

Volume

Multiple outlets in the same job are much cheaper per-unit. A single GPO might be $350; six in the same room could be $750–$900 total.

Power point pricing is heavily front-loaded by the call-out and setup — once we're on-site with a board off, each additional outlet is far cheaper than a single one in isolation. The cheapest way to add power points is to bundle them: the seven you've been thinking about for a year cost less per outlet than the one you call us out for next week.

What pushes a quote toward the upper end

Brick veneer, double-brick or solid-plaster walls add labour over plasterboard. Outlets on the far side of the house from the switchboard mean longer cable runs through ceiling cavities. USB-C combo points and weatherproof outdoor outlets cost more in components. And if your switchboard is full, a new dedicated circuit may be needed before any outlet on it can carry the planned load — see our switchboard upgrade cost guide for that component.
