Dream Palm Springs Transformation

This complete whole-home transformation called for a ground-up electrical design that could match the drama of the Palm Springs aesthetic — bold, statement-making, and engineered to last. Millar Electrics worked directly alongside the builder from the framing stage through to final fit-off to deliver an electrical installation that was invisible where it needed to be and spectacular where it counted.

Scope of work

The project involved a full rough-in across the redesigned floor plan, including relocated switchboard, new ring circuits for all living zones, and dedicated circuits for the kitchen's high-draw appliances. The outdoor entertaining area — the centrepiece of this renovation — required extensive weatherproof cabling for pool equipment, feature lighting, and an outdoor kitchen.

Lighting design

We installed a mix of recessed LED downlights on fully dimmable circuits, architectural wall-wash fittings, and statement pendant wiring throughout the open-plan living and dining areas. Landscape lighting along the pool perimeter was wired on a separate low-voltage circuit with timer control. Every switch plate was coordinated with the interior designer to align with the home's colour palette.

Smart home pre-wiring

The owners requested future-proofing for home automation. We pre-wired for smart lighting control in all key zones, including conduit runs for a central hub location, and installed CAT6 data points throughout for robust wired networking alongside the Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Certificate of compliance

All electrical work was inspected and a Certificate of Electrical Compliance issued on completion. The project was delivered on time and within the agreed budget, with zero defects at the builder's practical completion inspection.
