Planning your layout
The best-looking lighting comes from the layout, not the fittings. We plan downlight grids based on ceiling height, room dimensions, and where the work happens (kitchen benches, study desks, reading positions). For pendants we coordinate with cabinetmakers so the cable position matches the fitting drop and the kitchen island. For feature lighting in living areas we balance ambient, task, and accent light layers.
Dimming and zoning
LEDs need LED-compatible dimmers — older leading-edge dimmers cause flicker, buzzing, and shortened LED life. We install trailing-edge dimmers or smart wall switches and zone the circuits so each area (kitchen, living, dining, hallway) is independently controllable. For renovation projects we plan the zoning during rough-in.
Renovations and new builds
For new builds and renovations, we work with your designer or builder to plan lighting layouts that meet your brief, comply with NCC energy efficiency requirements, and look great once the plasterwork is in. We attend site meetings before framing if helpful, so cable runs and recessed boxes go in the right places first time.
