02Pricing tiers

Where your job lands.

Three bands cover the full spread we see. Most jobs land in the typical band — bigger or smaller jobs sit either side.

01

Lower band

$400

Smaller scope, easier access, fewer line items.

02

Typical

$1,900

Middle 50% of completed jobs — most quotes land here.

03

Upper band

$14,000

Bigger scope or stacked complications.

03What drives the price

Where the spread comes from.

Each entry below moves the median up or down. Your job lands somewhere on the curve based on how these stack.

01

Number of points

Per-point cost decreases with volume. A single Cat6 run is around $250–$400; a 12-point office install drops to $180–$250 per point because setup amortises across the job.

02

Cable category and shielding

Cat6 covers most residential and SMB needs. Cat6a (10GbE-ready, shielded) adds ~30%. Worth it for new fit-outs you don't want to recable in 5 years.

03

Cable run length and access

Long runs through ceiling cavities and brick walls take more time than short slab-to-slab routes. External or underground runs add conduit and weatherproofing.

04

Patch panel and rack

Terminating into a 24-port patch panel with proper labelling is professional but adds $400–$700 over a basic punchdown to a wall socket.

05

Testing and certification

Every Millar data run is tested with a Fluke certifier and the results emailed to you. It's required for warranty on most premium cable brands.

Wireless networks are convenient but never match wired speed, reliability, or security. The price band above is for properly designed and certified structured cabling, not the kind of "just run a cable" job where the test report is missing and the patch panel is loose. The spread reflects real costs across single home-office runs through to small-office multi-port installs.

Why the test report matters

Every Millar data run is Fluke-tested and the certification report emailed to you with the invoice. Most premium cable brands (Belden, Commscope, Krone) only honour their channel warranty when the install is certifier-tested per port. Without that report, you're carrying the warranty risk yourself. The certifier costs us time on every job.
