Free safety inspection with every job

A surprising number of issues turn up on jobs that have nothing to do with the original call-out — a loose neutral on the main switch, an RCD that's tripped years ago and never been reset properly, a circuit that's not labelled. None of it is dangerous in itself, but it's the kind of thing that catches up with you when something else goes wrong.

We include this check on every job because it costs us five minutes and tells you a lot about the state of your installation. If we find something worth fixing we'll tell you straight up, give you a fixed-price quote in writing, and let you decide.

What we look for

• Switchboard: RCD coverage, breaker labelling, signs of heat damage, neutral bar condition, main switch operation.
• Visible wiring: insulation condition on accessible runs, mechanical protection where cables pass through structure, age of fixed appliances and their connections.
• Earthing: visible bonding to water and gas, MEN link integrity.
• Smoke alarms: presence, age (10-year replacement rule), interconnection.

What we don't look for

We won't pull down ceilings or pull cables out of walls. We won't issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety as part of a free inspection — that requires a full test under AS/NZS 3000 Section 8 and an Energy Safe Victoria lodgement, which is a separate fixed-price service. We also don't cover circuits we can't see from the switchboard or the location we're attending.
